Psychotherapy is a form of talk therapy facilitated by a licensed professional. It can help individuals who are suffering with mental and emotional difficulties. This form of therapy can help manage symptoms that are a barrier to overall well-being and positive mental health.

Therapy is for anyone and everyone! There are no specific requirements you need to meet in order to speak with a psychotherapist. You can talk about any issues going on in your life. No problem is too big or too small.
It’s important, however, to find a psychotherapist who is the right fit for your needs. Many of them offer complimentary consultations where you meet the professional and see if you’re a good fit for one another. It usually takes a few sessions (2-4) to know if you and your therapist work well together. There are also psychotherapists who specialize in all kinds of topics.
People of all ages, races, ethnicities, and socioeconomic statuses are encouraged to try therapy if they are interested. You may benefit from speaking with a psychotherapist at any point in your life. Have an open mind, find a professional you feel comfortable with, and trust the process.
The first session is known as an “Initial Assessment”. During this time, the therapist will learn detailed background information about the client. Gathering a deep understanding of the person’s mental and emotional state, family history, and other experiences will help them make the best possible treatment plan.
I encourage you to check if psychotherapy is covered under your insurance plan. If it is, once you have paid for a session, you will be given a receipt which you can give to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Grey Couch is not able to offer direct billing at this time.
At Grey Couch Counselling and Psychotherapy, all individuals, no matter their sex, gender, identity, racial identity, sexual orientation, and past are welcome.
Of course not! During therapy, it’s important for you to be honest with yourself. I’ll never judge you and all topics are welcome.
